During the Spring of 2010 Parson’s Design and Technology director Anezka Sebek was kind enough to let me host a 4 hour workshop on making games in AS3. This 4 hour workshop was an initiative to help bridge the programming gap between the analog only Game Design 1 and the programming intensive Game Design 2 classes being offered at The New School. I took a group of students through an introduction to programming in the Flex IDE and then proceeded to walk everyone through making a simple brick breaker clone.
